Happy 3rd Birthday B!

Three years ago at 11:50pm, I became a mommy to a blue-eyed squishy boy.  Weighing in at 7lbs 4oz.

It was a super long day, but worth every single minute.  You barely made a peep & everyone was concerned since you wouldn't cry...if we only knew how you would have no problem expressing yourself after that first cry.

Since then you've been running the show around here.

You've been to the movies twice.  First time was to see Planes Fire and Rescue and just this past week, we took you to see Penguins of Madagascar.

You love your animals.  You are always taking care of Papa Bunny, Reno & Coco.  Love your caring heart.

B- you are one smart boy!  You love to repeat everything we say, especially daddy.  You love to tell us when we say "an ugly word" or when we aren't being nice or kind.  There are many times you'll say something to us and your dad and I will look at each other in disbelief.  Like did he really just say that?!

For instance, we were discussing something during dinner and you chimed in and said, "well that's just what I expected!"  Haha!

You are very honest and aren't afraid to speak your mind.  Daddy says you get your sass from your mama! ;)  Actually, you are a lot like your mama in many ways.  Poor daddy! ;)

You go to Mother's Day Out two days a week & I think it's done wonders for you.  You love interacting with other kids and love learning.  You've learned so many things since September.  You have also learned so many Bible stories from school and love to tell me what Pastor told you that week.

And your prayers...melt my heart!  Your daddy and I pray everyday, you'll grow up with a heart for Christ.  That you follow His ways and not those of this world.  You give the best AMEN ever after each prayer.  If we don't do it just right (arm high enough or loud enough) you are sure to correct us.  Makes me laugh!

You had your first cousin sleep-over.  My birthday weekend, you stayed the night with Aunt Cadee & Uncle Eric and threw the biggest fit that you had to go home with us!  It was pitiful but funny!  You made cookies with your cousins! :)

You have the cutest cheesy face I've ever seen!  You scrunch up your little nose & squint your eyes - just precious!!  You are also SO very funny!!!!!  You definitely got your daddy's wit & humor.  I wish I could write down every funny little thing you say.

This year was your first time on an airplane and out of the country.  You are a great little travel buddy & LOVED going on vacation.  You've already requested to go on another vacation soon.

You weigh 30lbs and wear still wear some 2T & 3T.  You wear a size 8 shoe.  But you refuse to wear any shoe other than your tractor boots.  I have to bribe you if I want you to wear any other shoe.  Most days it's not even worth the fight.

You are very opinionated when it comes to clothes.  As soon as your feet hit the floor, you want to put on your "long pants" aka blue jeans, socks, boots and a working shirt.  Wearing a belt most days is a must too.

I'll tell you that I love you and you'll respond with, "I don't love you because I'm a construction worker!"  Haha, as if construction workers can't love their mamas.

Currently your favorite shows are Paw Patrol, Rescue Bots, Toy Story 3, Mighty Machines and Legos.  You still like to watch Mickey Mouse, Agent Oso, and Bubble Guppies occasionally.  Love to hear you say Netflix, it's more like "met-licks."

Your favorite toys are tractors, rescue bots, tinker toys, Lego duplos, and anything outside or tools like shovels, trucks, dirt, hammer, and Play Doh.  You still love to read books and we try to read 3 books every night and books at naptime.

You still take naps.  I try to make you take one every day, but it doesn't always happen.  But when you do nap, you still take good 2-3 hour naps.  You still wake up once during the night to go potty.  You've been potty trained since March.

You are simply pure JOY!  We love you to pieces and still can't believe God picked us to be your parents.  It's been such an honor to be able to watch you grow, learn, and explore this grand world.  We feel so blessed each day we get to spend with you.

Happy 3rd Birthday baby boy!!!  And I know you tell me you aren't a baby anymore, but you'll always be my baby boy!  Love you so very much!!

April Updates - Birthday Fun

So I've clearly failed on posting about Christmas and Easter.  I've debated just writing about them anyway for my sake, because let's face it...I probably will forget the details & the whole reason I "blog" is a way to look back on our lives.  So I think I just talked myself into blogging about those holidays, ha!

But for now I'm going to do just a general update about April...

First of April, we celebrated my sweet friend Lacy's birthday!  It was a fun night out with adult conversation & a few games at darts.  Which apparently I am no good at.

The weekend of April 13th, I headed to San Antonio to celebrate my momma's birthday on the Riverwalk.  My sister, aunt, cousin, and myself surprised my mom with a girls trip to SA.  We had a wonderful time!!!

San Antonio traffic...not so fun!

We arrived Saturday, had lunch, then walked the river.  My good friend from college was able to get away for the weekend & join us.  I was so glad to be able to see her.  We don't get to see each near enough now that we have kids and live about 5 hours away from each other.
college friends...love her!
That evening we went to dinner and then headed to Pete's Piano Bar for some sing-a-long fun!

Mother & Daughters
We paid to have them write Happy Birthday to mom.  I wasn't happy that they wrote it below that nonsense...we all know the Aggies now play in a real conference & we really don't care about the Big (Little) 12.  Hmm, have they talked to Johnny Football?! ;)

Love my momma!!!

Mom wanted to check out a church that was on some mission grounds on the southside of SA.  So Sunday we checked out of our hotel and headed to mass.  We attended the mariachi mass.  Which was definitely interesting and they told you lots of history about the church.  It was like a mini field trip :)

We ended up having lunch a local mexican restaurant that was really yummy!  Afterwards, we said our goodbyes and hit the road back home.  I really enjoyed my night away and off my mom duties.  Even though I really did my sweet boy & his daddy...it was nice to be able to take some "me time" and enjoy fun music in the car! :)

And because I am clearly a nerd and have no life while I'm by myself...I took all kinds of "selfies" haha.  No I was really trying to get a picture of my new earrings that I had gotten while at market back in March.  They are now a staple in my wardrobe & I just thought I needed to share w/ the whole world how awesome they were!  Clearly I have nooo life or maybe it's just the little things that make me happen...

And I was happy about wearing my new "Mama Loved" shirt!  We ordered these at market & it's my favorite!  Not to mention the shirt is super comfy!!

Ace's Birthday Weekend

This last weekend we went up to my brother's to celebrate my nephew Ace's birthday.  He turned 2 the day before Valentine's.  I was so excited to finally get a chance to go see their new house and spend some time with them.  And I knew Brady would love getting to spend some time with his cousins.

It was a good 5 hour drive there so we kind of broke the trip up.  On the way there and on the way back we stopped at our home away from home, Bryan/College Station.  Oh how we miss that place!  And pray we someday can make it back to call home.

Oh this is my whole world.  And a "framer" ha!
Friday night we stopped to grab dinner at Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

It was heaven!  We loved eating there when we lived in San Antonio and now Bryan has one.  Brady got to enjoy his first Freddy's steakburger.  He was more interested in people watching than eating.  He is such a social butterfly!

After dinner, we had another hour and 15 minute drive.  We finally arrived at my brother's around 9:15pm.  We left our house around 2pm.  Yeah, but I must say Brady did great on the way up and the way home.  I can admit I was a bit anxious of how the trip would go.

Saturday was party day!  Ace had a tractor party.  He loves tractors!

I had already decided I wanted to make him a tractor shirt then when I got the invitation in the mail & saw the theme was tractors - I thought how perfect!  So I let him open that gift the night before so he could wear it for his party.  He looked adorable!  Well he is just precious regardless what he wears.  Gosh, I just love little boys!

Mmm...cake!!
The guys fried fish, french fries, and hush puppies while all the kids played.  It was a little windy, but beautiful day outside.

And it looks like B really needs one of these little play-sets.  He loved it!

After fish and cake...it was present time!

Saturday afternoon we all took naps and then got ready to head out for a night out on the town.  All the "kids" left the grandkids with Mimi and Papa so we could go to a local dance hall to see Aaron Watson.  It had been forever since any of us had been out dancing.  We had so much fun!!  It's not very often that I get to spend time with my brothers and sister-in-laws and never without kiddos.

We had the best time!  We laughed, danced, and people watched.  Thanks Mimi & Papa for watching the babies.  We all really enjoyed our night out!
Sunday morning we got up and got ready to head home.  We made plans to meet our good friends for lunch at AB's favorite fajita place, Los Cucos.  We also stopped by their house on the way up to let Brady stretch his legs a bit.  We miss them SO much!

And if you can't tell Brady really loves Miss Rylie!  Sooo stinkin' cute!  And Rylie is sooo good with Brady.  Another reason we wish we lived closer to them!!  We made it home around 6 Sunday evening.  We were all pretty worn out from the weekend but thankful for a wonderful weekend spent with family!

And from the looks of this next picture...I think someone really enjoyed themselves this weekend.  Talk about melt a momma's heart!!!!

By Saturday evening, the boys had warmed up to each other.  Mom (aka Mimi) took these pictures of them while we were out dancin'.  Precious!  What a great BIG brother Ace will be in a few weeks!

Brady really enjoyed a weekend full of cousins.  He loves playing with our other kids and I love to watch him interact with them.  Just stinks we all live so far away from each other!  Brady didn't sleep all that well while away so he was exhausted come Sunday.  But we did manage to get a group cousin photo and everyone was looking!  Just missing Madyson and Maddox!

Sweet cousins.  Can't wait until our next get together...hopefully spring break!  Thanks Uncle Justin, Aunt Nikki, and Ace for a fun-filled weekend!!!  Happy 2nd Birthday Ace!
