First Day of MDO

Today, we embarked into a new season/adventure.

Brady started Mother's Day Out!

I think we were both ready and eager for the new change.  They started last Tuesday, but since we were in Houston all week, he missed the first week!  I also had BIG plans of making him a shirt, but with the craziness of life lately, that just wasn't in the cards.  I also have a backpack to match his lunch-kit, but haven't monogrammed it yet...

He ended up having a great day!

This morning, we all got up (including daddy who stayed around to take him on his first day) bright and early.  Showered, got dressed, and then fixed his lunch which consisted of a mini pizza, cheese crackers, and dried fruit.

Then we were on our way...

He did so great during drop-off.  We went right in and he put his backup in his cubbie, then went right into his classroom.

We said our goodbyes as quickly as possibly, then headed out!  He wanted to change his seat and so his teacher moved his seat next to a little girl he knows from church, and the sat right down.

There were no tears from him or from mama or daddy!  I was kind of surprised I didn't cry, but I just kept thinking about how much fun he would have and how good this would be for him.

I was SO excited to pick him up!  Almost more nervous about that, than dropping him off.  I went in and he was happy playing and of course his little face lit up when he saw me.  But then he looked behind me and wanted to know where daddy was?  He insisted we had to go pick daddy up from work!  ha!!  His teacher said he had a good day, but very independent.  He is Mr. Independent, that's for sure.  I asked him if he had fun and he said yes and that he wanted to come back on Thursday!  I think he had a GREAT first day!  Which makes my mama heart so happy!!  We swung by Sonic for happy hour and a lemon-berry slush and then came home for a much needed nap!  So proud of my sweet boy and I hope he has amazing first year of Mother's Day Out!

And in case you're wondering what I did with all my free-time...I picked up the house a little, then honestly took a NAP!!

Thanksgiving 2012 {Part 1}

I better get this up before Christmas gets here.

We celebrated Thanksgiving at my parents, like we do most years.  This was a fun year because it was Brady's FIRST Thanksgiving!  Not sure he really knew what was going on but either way, it was still exciting.

Wednesday we headed north, not realizing how horrific traffic would be.  Note to self: don't travel the evening before Thanksgiving.  Brady did good considering the really long car ride.

I tried getting a picture (with my phone) of my little turkey on Thanksgiving and this is what I got.  Such a ham!

 Bless his heart....no personality!

Finally a kind of decent one...
This is the 2nd time I've found Brady helping himself to an apple.  Perfect for a teething baby boy. ha!  He is a hoot!
At Mimi's house there are all kinds of toys.  For boys and girls since we have lots of girl cousins.  Brady was really interested in one of the dolls.  It was so funny.  He picked her over and even gave her a kiss!
I just love his facial expressions.  Like what in the world...

Thursday we had lunch around 1.  Brady got to partake in the Thanksgiving feast.  We had ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cornbread dressing, green bean casserole, mac n cheese, cranberries, and rolls.  For dessert, we had different pies and my mom made a delicious pumpkin dessert called pumpkin crunch cake.  It was so good and I think it will be a must have dessert from here on out.

I can't say Brady loved the meal.  Lately he's turned into a kind of picky eater.  Things he normally loves, he isn't interested in.  But we gave it the good ol' college try for his 1st Thanksgiving.  And I can say that he at least tried everything we put on his tray.  Turkey, mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, cornbread dressing and green beans.

Let's get real...he did LOVE the mac n cheese.  He is his father's child ;) Papa sat with B. at the kids table.  I remember eating at the "kids table" as a kid.  To fun!

We spent the rest of the afternoon lounging around, eating again and just enjoying each others company.  And maybe ate a 3rd piece of pumpkin crunch cake! ;)

B. enjoyed his cousins pushing him around on the plasma car.  He loved that thing!  Watch out cousins on the go...
These pictures really do melt my heart.  Such precious moments.

I couldn't be more thankful for my little family.  I have one incredible husband who loves me so much and is one amazing father to B. And of course we are so thankful for the miracle of life, our precious son.  I have so much to be thankful for.
My sweet family on Thanksgiving.  B's first Thanksgiving.
Friday, we ended up taking Brady to his first trip to the zoo.  So up next...Thanksgiving part 2: Trip to the Zoo.

Halloween 2012

So I've never been much of a Halloween person.  Not that I have anything against it, just not something I really get in to.  But let me tell you, now that I'm a mom it's a whole different ballgame.
Probably one of the best things about being a parent, is seeing the world and things through you child's eyes.  It's something I thought about before having kids, but definitely something you don't "get" until you have them.

Today was such a fun day and it brought me so much joy to see Halloween through Brady's eyes.  Yes, we celebrate Halloween but only for a fun dress up day.  It's a good, light-hearted family fun day.  Granted he really had no clue what was going on but none the less, it was still magical to me.  And I know it will only get more magical as he gets older.

We also had a fun mail day.  Mimi sent Brady a box full of clothes!  What a sweet mimi!!  Now if it would get cold, so we could enjoy them.

We started getting ready for Halloween around 5 this evening.  Daddy came home then, took a shower and started to get B. dressed and ready.  I on the other hand, waited until the last few minutes before it was time to go to embroider a trick-or-treat bag for him and   Miss Grace.  It donned on me earlier today that I had no bag for Brady's treats so while at Hobby Lobby I took care of that issue.  (I realize he technically can't eat the candy anyway but we still wanted to dress him up & take him out for the festivities)  And as one of the other moms in the our bible study said, "we clearly need the candy more than them!" ha!  I don't need it but might help calm my crazy.
Once we were all ready, we made a quick trip out to AB's parents and then to see Mrs. Sylvia, a sweet family friend.  We then raced home to wait for our good friends, Matt, Robyn, and Grace.  Grace is just over a year old and her and Brady have no choice but to be good friends.

I must say I am pretty proud of my homemade costume.  Even if I did forget the knife for his belt...

I was surprised at how well Peter kept his hat on.  Even though most people thought he was Robin Hood.

We finally made our way to our church for their trunk or treat.  It was nice because it wasn't that crowded and it was a quick trip through all the trunks.  And look at these sweet daddies with their babies...

There were some pretty creative trunks.  My favorite was a "cat lady" and a dog lady?  Grace and Brady both love to say "dog" so we let them get a free pet ;)
And I just had to get a picture of the cat lady...you can't tell from the picture but she has a bunch crawling up her legs.  And her arms and face were all scratched up (with fake scratches of course!)  They had a bunch of cat litter tubs and even had candy in a cat litter box.  It was too funny!  Pretty clever cat lady...
There was a lady with a real dog, which B. and G. loved!  Look at Brady's face...I think he is really unsure of the lady.  ha!

Afterwards, we went and had dinner.  Grace and Brady loved sitting by each other.  They tried feeding each other, shared goldfish, both raked all their food on the floor, and were just precious!  Honestly, I think they thought we were nuts dressing them up and taking them to get candy.  I'm so glad our friends joined us for a night of fun!

It was a wonderful evening and one I don't think I'll ever forget.  This is what makes life worth living...
