NEW!

So spring break is over and it's back to reality! Spring Break was great...did a ton of traveling, got to see so many people I love, just wish I had gotten a little more rest. Oh well, summer break is in 10 weeks and I can SLEEP then! :) I'm uploading photos from spring break...lots happened. I went to Abilene for the first weekend (rode up there w/ Kara, Madyson, & Maddox) for Miss Aubrey's 3rd birthday, then went to Belton to see my dear friend Shanna, then took Skylett to Houston and we went to the children's museum, then on Wednesday afternoon Allen and I headed South to stay with his parents until Sunday. Whew...what a week!! I was able to sew a bit (not as much as I had hoped but that's okay) because I did learn lots while I was in Odem with Mamu AND I got a NEW serger! I am so very excited! A serger will help tremendously when it comes to making clothes, can't wait to get it broken in and make some clothes! I promise to post photos soon of spring break.

Here is an outfit I made this past week.

The countdown begins: Allen's graduates in 8 WEEKS! and Summer break will be here in 10 WEEKS!

Hump day

3 days until Spring Break...woo-hoo!!! While I am very excited about having a week of rest & relaxation, I'm also very afraid it's going to go by way too fast! I haven't posted anything in a while so I thought I would write a short post while I had time.

Nothing really exciting has been going on in our lives! Allen is working on his huge final project and I am just working, working, working. The new time change is starting to catch up with me! Allen did order his cap & gown, as well as a "hood" this week, yay!! Graduation should be such an exciting time and while we are so thankful grad school is almost over...we are also very anxious about what is to come after! We still have no job offer from anywhere nor do we have really even have a job prospect. Allen applied for 3 positions with City of College Station and one of them has already been filled. So we are down to 2 jobs there and still a possible job offer from Jacobs (if they ever get any work!!). But we are very thankful that school for Allen will soon be over - he is so ready to get out there & make his own impression. While it's hard thinking about the future when it is unknown, I do know things will work out and we just have to keep believing that. So much easier said than done, right? This is such an important time for us in our walk with Christ. I am trying very hard to shift my focus to a time of thanksgiving - instead of a time of dismay. I am hoping soon we will see a light at the end of the tunnel and soon I'll be able to understand this path in which we are being taken down. I know God has great plans in store for us and I know we must walk through a valley to fully appreciate the mountain top. I am really trying to rejoice in today and what we have now instead of looking towards what's ahead. I am so very excited to see all of what God has planned for us...but until that moment, I'm excited and ready for spring break! Being a teacher really is a great thing :) Allen and I are going to get to spend an entire week with each other!! I know he is super excited! :) Hopefully, I can catch up on some rest & get LOTS of sewing done! Reno will also throughly enjoy spending lots of time with us...he is spoiled rotten! But we love him :) I thank you all for your prayers during this time and I'm so thankful for amazing family & friends!

Love Song

Thought this song was appropriate for the Lenten season. Easter is such a special holiday for me and I really enjoy Lent because it gives me time to reflect and put things into perspective. I hope you enjoy :) the song is "Love Song" by Third Day (one of my FAVORITE bands).

Blankies

Rock 'n Roll blanket (flannel & minky)

Monkey, Monkey, Monkey (both sides flannel)

The two blankets I made on Sunday...I think they turned out pretty well considering it was my VERY FIRST time to attempt this particular pattern. I think they are way more cute in person but photos will have to do for now. I am not so good w/ the camera so maybe Allen will get better photos for me soon (without all the shadows). They were actually easy to make & I'm excited to make more! Let me know what you think...

Mark your calendars!!!!

FRIDAY, MAY 15th, 2009 - Allen's Graduation Day!

Allen will walk the stage that day and graduate with his Masters! I am SO VERY EXCITED for him and SO VERY PROUD of him! This has been an incredible three years and I know Allen will be so happy to finally be DONE with school!! He has worked so very hard, spent countless hours "in studio" and sacrificed a whole lot to get where he is today. I know not everyone will be able to celebrate with us that day but I know all of you will be thinking of Allen! :) Thank you so much for all your love & support you have given Allen and myself over the last three years!

CHEERS to the start of a new chapter in our lives! In which, involves NO school!! :)

Allen's Fightin' Texas Aggie Ring Day! :)

Allen with his amazing family at his undergrad graduation....they have supported & loved him through it all!!!

WHOOP!! :)

Manic Monday

Oh how I love Mondays...okay, not really but it sounded good! But I am excited about this particular Monday because today I start water aerobics! I am very excited to get in shape & hopefully lose some weight :) but I am NOT so much excited about getting in a swimsuit...yeah, not even a little bit! The city offers water aerobics 3 times a week from now until end of May (48 sessions) for ONLY $40 (the flyer said $60 BUT when I went to sign up it was ONLY $40). My only thing is I wish someone was doing it with me, I really could use an accountability partner. But I'm looking forward to it and looking forward to being skinny again! (hopefully, that's not wishful thinking)

I'm setting a goal of working out @ least 5 times a week (3 days aerobics, 2-3 days running). Lately, I've been going to run/fast-walk on the treadmill at the apartment gym and I've found that I really like running. It's kind of like an escape for me, I just hope I can keep it up. Summer will be here before I know it! But before summer is Spring Break - I thought I would NEVER get to have another Spring Break! Oh the joys of teaching!! Spring Break is in 2 weeks! I can't believe it! Feels like just yesterday that I just started working at The Ridge and now it's already almost Spring Break and soon it will be summer. While, I am looking forward to summer break I also know I'm going to miss my kids & all the fabulous people I work with. This summer I hope to get my sewing business up and running. Yesterday, I was able to get some sewing done - I made 2 blankets and Aubrey a pair of boutique bottoms. I tried out a new sewing pattern for the blankets and they turned out soooo cute!! I will post pics of them soon. Well, it's 3:30 and it's time for me to go...I'm off to get a swim suit for aerobics. Allen and I decided a bikini was NOT appropriate for water aerobics...not to mention, I'd scare everyone away in a bikini at this point but we hope to change that SOON (very soon)!

Tomorrow, we have TAKS testing and I'll be testing or should I say administrating Skylett's test...please send up a few angels & prayers for her tomorrow! I know she will do great! It's a BIG day, yet very stressful for our kiddos and for staff...I'll be glad to get it over with! After Skylett is done with her test, we'll get to play some games & relax! I really hope she does well because it will mean so much to her if she passes!!

I hope everyone survived another Manic Monday...

Hershey Bar Chocolate Cake

1 box devil's food cake mix
1 (3.3) pkg. instant vanilla pudding
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup oil

Preheat oven to 325. Mix together cake mix, vanilla pudding, eggs, milk and oil. Pour into 3 (9 inch) greased and floured cake pans. Bake for approx. 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove, cool for a few minutes, and turn out of pans. Cool completely.

Frosting:
3 (1.55 oz) Hershey bars
1 (8 oz) pkg. cream cheese
1 (15 oz) box confectioners sugar
1 (8 oz) container Cool Whip- thawed
3/4 cup chopped pecans

Put the candy bars in a food processor ( I just chop them with my pampered chef chopper) and chop into tiny pieces. Save one bar to sprinkle on the top of the finished cake. Mix cream cheese and confectioners sugar until thoroughly blended. Fold in Cool Whip and pecans and candy bar pieces. Spread frosting between layers of cake, then top and sides. If icing doesn't spread easily I have heated it up just a few seconds in the microwave. Keep cake refrigerated.

**I found this recipe on our school website (we have a recipe forum where people post their delicious recipes) and I thought it sounded amazing! I have NOT made this particular cake myself but I will be trying it in the near future! (just need to find an occasion to make a cake!) But I don't see how you could go wrong with this recipe...YUM!
