Lunch, Play, & Dinner Date

This past Thursday we had a busy day!  A day full of dates.  A lunch date, a play date, and a dinner date!  That's a lot for one little tiny boy!  But the day flew by and it ended in one, sleepy boy at the end of the day.

Daddy had the day off so loaded up and went & had lunch at The Chicken Shack.  It was a first for us.  Chicken tenders, sweet tea, & cornbread...how could you go wrong?

During lunch - Brady loves being in the Mobywrap.

After lunch, Brady and I headed to Grace's house for a little play date.  Okay, I'm thinking really the play date was for mommy & Grace's momma...always refreshing to get to have some girl talk!  Especially when we share the similar experience of being mommies of infants.

Brady & Grace

Grace looking over at Brady in her swing.  Too cute!

Brady was fussy (due to not taking a nap - that boy needs his sleep) so I swaddled him & Robyn got him to sleep in Grace's swing.  Guess that's how Brady rolls during his play-dates, ha!
Grace is so sweet!  She wanted to play with Brady so bad.  We laid them on the play-mat together and she just keep patting B. and smiling at him.  Sweet, sweet girl!

I hope Brady and Grace grow up to be great friends.  Lord knows we'll need them to keep an eye on each other while at Texas A&M.  Is it wrong I just assume that is where my children will go to college?  I mean after all, there is no better place and I hope I raise them to be smart enough to choose only the best! ;)

Then we rushed home to get ready for dinner.  We all then headed out to dinner...with a screaming, crying baby.  I felt so bad for our friends.  Thankfully, he only cried on the way there and once we got to the restaurant, he was fine.  Dinner was wonderful & again it was nice to catch up with good friends & have some adult interaction.

The Reagan's with Brady B.
It was a wonderful day & a great way to spend Brady turning 2 months old.  Brady slept for 5 hours straight that night due to all the his dates.  Yay for sleep!

Two Months

Brady you are 2 months old today.  Oh my sweet boy you are growing up so fast.
You wear a size 1 diaper.
You still can wear a few newborn clothes but you mostly wear 0-3 months.
You weigh 11.5 pounds.

You nurse about every 3 hours.  We are working on stretching you to 4 hours.
You are still sleeping in the bassinet in our room, but have started taking naps in your crib.
You have started smiling more & more and recognizing people more.
You coo & giggle at us.
You are such a morning baby, that is when you are the happiest!
Your changing table/pad is your favorite place to be.
You love bath time in your Tuckie Duckie.

I am convinced you are made of sugar because you are so dang sweet!
You love your daddy & he absolutely loves & adores you!
You have recently discovered your hands.  You love sucking on your fists and putting your hands in your mouth.
You blow/make bubbles now with your mouth.

You fight your sleep like no one's business.
You still love to be swaddled - for nighttime & for naps.
You have made 2 road trips to Mimi & Papa's.

You get really fussy when you haven't had good sleep.
You can hold your head up and people always comment on how strong you are.
You love being in the Mobywrap.  I can always put you in it to calm you down.
You still wake up 2 times during the night to nurse.
You sleep with your "sleep sheep" during the night and music on during naps.
You make so many different faces.  Serious ones, perplexed ones, and funny ones.

Yesterday (2/15) you rolled over from your tummy to your back!  Mommy put you in your crib on your tummy and came back in to find you on your back!
You make this momma earn her keep.  But I love every second/minute of it and wouldn't trade it for the world.  You bring so much joy to us everyday.  We love you so much!  And of course think you are the cutest, smartest baby around.

I absolutely love being your momma!  You melt my heart!!

My Sweet Valentine

Talk about mELt my hEaRt...

Valentine's Day 2012

We had a wonderful Valentines day.  It was super simple but was one of the sweetest ever!
Because I'm pretty sure there is nothing sweeter than a baby.

For Valentine's, AB went to the grocery store for me.  I know what you are thinking...really??  But oh this is a big deal because it saved me a trip and I didn't have to get out with baby B.  Which means I stayed in my pj's all day...now that makes a girl happy! :)

For Valentine's, AB also cooked dinner.  I know, he is a total keeper!  He grilled shrimp, steaks, and then assisted me in making the Pioneer Woman's Hot Crush Potatoes.  I made us salads and tea.  We also ate our china for the very 1st time.  AB joked about how we were waiting to use our china for when the queen came to visit...I told him I was the queen!  Ha! :)

AB also got me chocolate covered strawberries and a card from him & Brady.

Our little Valentine joined us for dinner.

It was the best Valentine's...simple & sweet!
With lots of love & kisses from my two sweet boys!

Mimi & Papa's & a BIRTHdAY!

Last Friday, we decided to pack up and head to my parents aka Mimi & Papa's for the weekend.  It was a special treat to go spend the weekend there and I'm so thankful for my hubby who is willing to take an impromptu trip on his birthday weekend.  I'm such a lucky girl!

We had a fairly low-key weekend for being out of town.  We got to Houston around 4pm.  Mom cooked salmon patties, which AB got to try for the first time and I made coconut shrimp & chicken.  Hmm, it was so good!

Saturday, we took a trip across town to look at a small bombay dresser I found on Craigslist.  We ended up getting it and I plan on using it as a bedside table in our bedroom.  I'll have to take photos of it once I move it into our room...as of right now it's still in the garage.  Eventually I'll probably refinish it - when I find some energy somewhere, ha!

Papa and Brady...love!

After an eventful time in a church parking lot while I nursed Brady and fighting the Houston traffic back to my parents...mom and I headed to Home Goods & TJ-Maxx.  I love Home Goods!  Such great house stuff for great prices.  Too bad we don't have one here, or a TJ-Maxx - ugh!  We ended up getting a really neat ottoman for the living room and a pretty hamper (laundry basket) for our bedroom.  I am so tired of looking at the white laundry basket that is always in our bathroom, which happens to be teeny, tiny!  So need less to say...we had a car FULL on the way home!  We actually had to leave the hamper at my parents because it wouldn't fit in the suburban.  Ha!  I also got some new tops which are bright colors and will be great for this spring.
My new french country ottoman...love it!
On the way home...the back
the front seat
that's the suitcase right beside me...it was cramped, ha!

Saturday night, we went out to dinner for AB's birthday!  We originally had plans to eat at an hibachi steakhouse but it was an hour and 45 minute wait.  Hmm, with a 8 week old...not happening!  That is what stinks about having a birthday so close to Valentine's day.  Luckily there was a Pappasito's Cantina across the street that we were able to get a table at within minutes.  AB's friend Al, surprised him & met us for dinner.  He also got meet Brady for the first time :)

again...
my amazing parents
AB's first birthday as a family of 3 and as a daddy! :)
Brady was crying so we didn't try for another picture.  This is real life people ;)
We ate wayyy too much but had a wonderful time!  And thankfully Brady was a good little boy for his daddy's birthday dinner!

Sunday morning we headed back home.  I get so sad every time I leave my parents.  I just hate that we live so far away.  But that's a whole other post for another time...

But Sunday was a special day because it was AB's actual birthday!

Poor Brady on the way home...he was so tired & that's the sleep sheep we use for him during naps/sleep and I was hoping if I turned it on & put it right there he'd go/stay asleep.  Worked for a little bit but wasn't all that successful.  & the paci semi-worked as well...he did okay for his 2nd road trip.  There was a little bit more crying this time but it was more because we left at strange times & didn't time it according to his feedings.

When we got home, AB wanted to smoke ribs on his new grill he got for his birthday.  His parents had steaks cut at our little local grocery store for his birthday dinner.  Steak is his favorite, next to macaroni & cheese.  We ended up having steak, ribs, fresh green beans, left-over cheesy hash-brown casserole, & salad for his birthday dinner.  I also made him THIS dessert.  I totally read the ingredients wrong & only had 1 thing of Cool Whip so ours didn't have cool whip on top but regardless it is HEAVEN in a pan!  So good!!!!  Probably one of my newest, most favorite desserts.  Thanks once again Pinterest for another great recipe!

Happy Birthday to an amazing husband who loves me more than anything in this world & always remembers to show or tell me.  Happy Birthday also to an awesome daddy!  Brady has known AB from day one and I love nothing more than to see them to interact with each other.  Brady has one of the BEST daddy's ever & I thank God everyday for him.  We love you dearly & hope you had a wonderful birthday!

Pinterest Cooking

Pinterest is my new best friend when it comes to preparing and planning meals for the week.  It's now my go-to place when I start planning our weekly meals.  Now that I am home with the baby, I actually have time to cook and I am loving it.

I thought I'd share with you all the recipes I have made thus far:

(click on the pictures to take you to the pin/recipe)

Baked Crispy Cheddar Chicken

AB and I loved this recipe, definitely one I'll be throwing into my week-night dinner rotation.  I highly recommend it.

Brown Sugar & Balsamic Glazed Pork-loin

AB really liked this.  I liked it too but mine did not look this caramelized.  Next time I will probably caramelize it in a skillet and then cook it in the oven.  I think the pork-loin I bought was injected with a lot of water because the crock-pot had lots of water in it - eww, not a fan of injected food.  But I will definitely make it again just tweak it a bit.

Chicken Fried Rice - minus the chicken

Our rice ended up being a little mushy but AB made it while I tended to Brady so I'm not sure what happened.  I will give it another shot and see if I can make it less mushy?  We also didn't have chicken in it because I was serving it along side this next recipe, which we LOVED!

Coconut Chicken with Apricot Sauce

Loved this recipe!  Easy and so delicious!  If you are a fan of coconut that is, which I love all things coconut!  I doubled the sauce recipe because we are some sauce-lovin' fools in this house...I am thinking this would be to die for if you used shrimp!  Yum!  This recipe is a winner-winner, chicken dinner!  Ha!

Sweet Baby Ray's Crockpot Chicken

This was good but it also did NOT look like the picture.  It was also rather runny too, I'm guessing too much water injected into the chicken?  Not sure...either way it was still good, I just had to add bbq sauce on it when I served it because the sauce it made was more like soup.  Ha!

Chicken Crescent Roll Casserole

I really liked this recipe, just had to cook mine longer since I used "big & fluffy" crescents.  This is another one I will make again.

Crockpot Beef Stroganoff

I actually wrote about this one here.  I've actually been craving this so it must be a keeper.

Autumn Chopped Salad

I made that salad for a work party...it was a big hit.  I thought it was really good myself.

Crispy Southwest Chicken Wraps

These were really good.  I added Rotel which made them have a bit of a kick.  But these would be even better with...

Chuy's Jalapeno Ranch Dip

So.Good.  Makes.a.ton.

Loaded Potato Soup

Also makes.a.ton.  I recommend you make it for a crowd or freeze what you don't eat.

And for dinner tonight, I am making...

Ranch Chicken

with Cracker Barrel Hashbrown Casserole

And that's why I love Pinterest.  So many great ideas/recipes.  If you are on Pinterest, you can "follow" me here.
